General Precautions 

 

WARNING: 

When replacing consumables do NOT remove the covers or guards that are 

fastened with screws. You cannot maintain or service any of the parts that are behind these 

covers and guards. Do NOT attempt any maintenance procedure that is NOT specifically 

described in the documentation supplied with your device. 

 

 

Replacing the Fuser Module 

A Low Supply Warning message may appear on the control panel when the fuser module is nearing end 

of life. 

If print output shows smears of toner, check the percentage of remaining life for the fuser module. 

Replace the fuser module when the percentage of remaining life is less than 20 percent. For details, refer 

to 

Supply Status

 on page 201. 

Note: 

Each fuser module includes installation instructions. 

To replace the fuser: 
1.

 

Power off the printer, then disconnect the power cord from the printer. 

2.

 

Remove any paper from Tray 5. Open the left side door of the printer, then wait for 5 minutes.
