Power-Cycle Reset
Under some circumstances, Spectra Logic Technical Support may direct
you to perform a power-cycle reset of the nTier500 to recover from an error.
To power off the nTier500, press and hold the front panel power button
(
Figure 40 on page 83
) until the button’s LED turns off. Press the button
again to turn the nTier500 back on again.
You can also use the RMM2 to power-cycle the nTier500 using a remote
connection.
Control the Power Remotely Using RMM
If you configured the Intel Remote Management Module 2 (RMM2), you
can use it to remotely control the power to the nTier500. RMM lets you
power the nTier500 on and off or perform a hard reset (reboot) from a
remote host using a standard web browser over a dedicated TCP/IP or
Telnet connection. Read the
Intel Remote Management Module 2 User Guide
,
which is included on the
Spectra nTier500 Backup and Archive Appliance
Documentation and Software
CD, to learn how to use RMM. You can also
download the user guide from the Intel web site (see
Intel Remote
Management Module 2 on page 15
).
To completely power off your nTier500, make sure that you unplug all of
the power cords. Otherwise, it is still possible to remotely power on the
unit through the Intel RMM2 module and a remote host.
Caution
Do not power-cycle to reset the nTier500 unless you are specifically instructed to
do so. Instead, use the restart procedure described in
Use Windows to Restart or
Shut Down on page 93
.
