Turning on the entire SC90 system for the first time
When the main SC90 units have been turned on individually, you can turn on the entire
system for the first time. It is very important that this does not take place while the vessel
is in dry dock. The transducer may be damaged if it transmits in open air.
In order to power up the SC90 for the first time in a controlled manner, two tasks must be
done simultaneously. Two persons are required.
• One person must stay on the bridge in order to operate the SC90.
• One person must stay in the sonar room to verify that the Transceiver Unit starts, and
that the hull unit works properly.
Certain steps in the two procedures are location specific. The steps marked [ Sonar room ]
are done in the sonar room. The steps marked [ Bridge ] are done on the bridge.
Note
Proper oral communication must exist between the bridge and the sonar room. In the
event of problems or malfunctions:
1 Locate the
Motor Protecting Switch
(S301).
2 Set the switch to position OFF.
WARNING
The transducer may be damaged if it transmits in open air.

Before you can turn on the entire SC90 system, you must connect the transducer cable,
and prepare the hull unit for remote control. It is very important that this does not take
place while the vessel is in dry dock.
Prerequisites
The SC90 is installed as specified in the SC90 Installation manual . All cables - except the
transducer cable - are properly connected. The door on the Transceiver Unit is removed.
The door on the Power Supply Unit is open. Neither tools nor instruments are required.
