Operating Instructions – CMP ELVCD

6.1.1
Use with absolute encoder AK0H
The ELVCD inverter does not have SRAM memory. Therefore, it cannot store the
"Referenced" and "Number of encoder overflows" information if the voltage supply
fails.
In order to avoid the reference travel after switching on, the MultiMotion program
module calculates this information by evaluating various parameters during the boot
phase.
However, this evaluation can only succeed if the drive has not left the multi-turn range
of the absolute encoder (4096 motor revolutions) before switching off or in the
switched-off condition. The ELVCD inverter operates with an absolute position resolu-
tion of 65536 motor revolutions.
If the drive leaves the multi-turn range of the absolute encoder before switching off,
the ELVCD inverter loses the "Number of encoder overflows" information and is there-
fore no longer correctly referenced. The position that the ELVCD inverter then trans-
mits no longer corresponds to the original position before switching off.
NOTICE
Danger due to faulty referencing after a voltage supply failure. If the travel range of
the system is greater than the multi-turn range of the absolute encoder (4096 motor
revolutions), the drive can leave the multi-turn range of the absolute encoder after a
voltage supply failure.
The drive is then no longer correctly referenced. The drive can damage the system
by colliding with the mechanical stop.
•
Please ensure that the travel range of the machine is less than the multi-turn
range of the absolute encoder.
•
If this is not possible, ensure that a reference travel is carried out after running up
the machine.

Requirements
The following requirements apply to startup:
•
The drive is undamaged and not blocked.
•
You have carried out the measures stipulated in chapter "Extended stor-
age" (→
89) after an extended storage period.
•
You have established all of the connections correctly.
•
The direction of rotation of the drive is correct.
•
All protective covers are installed correctly.
•
All motor protection equipment is active and set for the rated motor current.
•
There are no other sources of danger.
•
The surface of the drive is not covered by heat-sensitive or thermally insulating
materials.
