Oil control valve operation
When the camshaft advances, the spool valve moves toward the coil spring according to the mag-
netic force of the magnetic coil, the spring is compressed, and the engine oil is sent to the advance
chamber passage. The engine oil in the retard chamber returns to the oil pan via the spool valve
passage.
When the camshaft retards, the spool valve moves toward the magnetic coil according to the mag-
netic force of the magnetic coil and the force of the coil spring, and the engine oil is sent to the
retard chamber passage. The engine oil in the advance chamber returns to the oil pan via the spool
valve passage.
