Removing the propeller shaft 
housing assembly

1.

Remove the water pipe 

1

 and shift rod

Remove the bolts

Pull out the propeller shaft housing with
the propeller shaft.

NOTE:

Before removing the propeller shaft from the
lower case, remove the shift rod.

Disassembling the propeller shaft 
housing

Remove the spring 

1

, and then remove

the cross pin

, dog clutch 

3

, slider,

shift plunger, and shift rod joint.

Remove the forward gear and forward
gear shim(s) from the propeller shaft
housing using a press.

3.

Remove the dowel from the lower case.

4.

Install the propeller shaft housing assem-
bly in the reverse direction into the lower
case.
