Lower unit

4.

Install the drive shaft and drive shaft
housing into the lower case, then the pin-
ion, washer and pinion nut, and then
tighten the nut to the specified torque.

NOTE:

To install the pinion nut, push down on the
drive shaft.

5.

Tighten the drive shaft housing bolts.

NOTE:

Apply LOCTITE 572 to the drive shaft hous-
ing bolts before installation.

Installing the propeller shaft housing

1.

Set the shift rod joint and dog clutch to
the neutral position as shown.

2.

Apply grease to the new O-rings and pro-
peller shaft housing.

3.

Install the dowel and propeller shaft
housing assembly into the lower case.

4.

Install the washer and propeller shaft
housing bolts 

1

, and then tighten the

bolts to the specified torque.

5.

Install the ring

 and bolts

.

6.

Install the water pipe and rubber seals.
