6. Turn off the power of the laser marking system, wait five seconds and then restart the
system.
Do not turn off the power supply during an online connection with your PC. Otherwise a data loss or
system failure may occur.
The new settings will be updated in the laser marking system.

24.19 Specify the command format
For command control, you can customize the command format, the encoding for non-ASCII
characters, and the input method for control codes in 2D codes.
If you are using the previous LP-400/LP-V models, the specified command format does not
apply. For details, refer to the “Serial Communication Command Guide: LP-400/V compatible
mode”.
For details about the communication data format and the alternative code, refer to the “Serial
Communication Command Guide”.
1. Establish an online connection between your PC and the laser marking system.
2. Go to the “System settings” screen and select “Communication”.
3. Make the following settings in the “Command format (standard mode)” category:
• “Start code”: “STX” (initial setting) or “None”
LP-RF, LP-RV: If you use the optional network unit (EtherNet/IP or PROFINET) for
command control, the start code is not required, regardless of this setting.
• “Include command in response”: “ON” (initial setting) or “OFF”
LP-RF, LP-RV: If you use the optional network unit (EtherNet/IP or PROFINET) for
command control, the command is included in the response data, regardless of this
setting.
• Response code: Any single-byte ASCII code from 01

to 7F

. The initial settings are:
‒ “Positive response code”: A
‒ “Negative response code”: E
‒ “Read request response code”: A
To set another response code, select “Change”. In the dialog, select a response code
and select “OK”.
• For “Encoding for non-ASCII characters”, select “Shift JIS” (initial setting), “GB 2312”
or “Latin-1”.
