1. Select the “Function settings” tab.
2. Select “Current file” and “Registered characters”.
3. For “Input method”, specify the method of assignment for the selected record number.
• “8-bit x 2”:
Creates 2 tables for the registered characters. 16 bits from D0 IN to D15 IN are
divided into two groups, D0 IN to D7 IN and D8 IN to D15 IN. Each group can contain
a maximum of 256 registered character strings that are assigned to record numbers
0 to 255.
• “4-bit x 4”:
Creates 4 tables for the registered characters. 16 bits from D0 IN to D15 IN are
divided into four groups, D0 IN to D3 IN, D4 IN to D7 IN, D8 IN to D11 IN and D12 IN
to D15 IN. Each group can contain a maximum of 16 registered character strings that
are assigned to record numbers 0 to 15.
4. Select a registration table to display the corresponding record numbers and registered
character strings.
• There are 2 registration tables if “Input method” > “8-bit x 2” is set.
“Registration table 0 (D0-D7)”: Lower 8 bits (D0 IN to D7 IN)
“Registration table 1 (D8-D15)”: Higher 8 bits (D8 IN to D15 IN)
• There are 4 registration tables if “Input method” > “4-bit x 4” is set.
“Registration table 0 (D0-D3)”: 4 bits (D0 In to D3 IN)
“Registration table 1 (D4-D7)”: 4 bits (D4 IN to D7 IN)
“Registration table 2 (D8-D11)”: 4 bits (D8 IN to D11)
“Registration table 3 (D12-D15)”: 4 bits (D12 IN to D15)
5. To add or edit a registered character string, double-click on a table row.
6. In the dialog, enter the text (max. 9 characters).
Setting range: alphanumeric characters, symbols, user-defined characters, Japanese or
Simplified Chinese characters
• Select “User-defined characters”, to insert a user-defined character.
• You cannot set functional characters such as date/time or counter in the registered
character strings.
• To use Japanese or Simplified Chinese characters, specify the character set under
“East Asian characters” in “File settings”.
7. Select “OK” to close the dialog.
The specified registered character string is displayed next to the record number.
8. Continue to specify registered character strings for other record numbers.
Available record numbers:
• “Input method” > “8-bit x 2”: 0 to 255
• “Input method” > “4-bit x 4”: 0 to 15
