Procedure to Install ESI Files
An ESI (EtherCAT slave information) file is an XML file that describes the connection information
and profile of the EtherCAT slave.
To connect an EtherCAT slave that is manufactured by other company to an NJ/NX-series master,
you must install the ESI file for that slave in the Sysmac Studio to enable setting the slave.
Precautions for Correct Use
Obtain the ESI file to install from the slave manufacturer. The ESI file must conform to the most
recent ETG ESI specifications.
Use the following procedure to install an ESI file.

Double-click
EtherCAT
under
Configurations and Setup
on the Multiview Explorer. Or, right-
click
EtherCAT
under
Configurations and Setup
and select
Edit
.
The EtherCAT Tab Page is displayed.

Right-click the EtherCAT master that is displayed in the EtherCAT Tab Page and select
Display ESI Library
.
The
ESI Library
Dialog Box is displayed.
