Recover Nozzles by (Optional) AMS
Introduction
Automatic Printhead Maintenance (AMS) is used to recover the jetting performance of the
printhead nozzles. The AMS is located on the opposite side of the gantry from the Manual
maintenance station. The AMS is an option that must be ordered and installed on the printer by a
service representative.
When to do
Either Automatic or Manual Printhead Maintenance must be performed at least daily, and more
often if required.
Before you begin
Ink must be at least 40° Centigrade (104° Fahrenheit) before you perform printhead maintenance.
The Job Control module displays the ink temperature. If the temperature is low, activate the ink
heater by clicking the icon and then monitor the temperature display.
Procedure
1. Select the Maintenance tab and then the Automatic Maintenance icon in the top right corner to
open the Automatic Maintenance Assistant screen where you can select the ink channels that will
be purged.
2. Select the ink channels to purge by clicking on either Standard or Long Purge.
Use the Standard Purge for daily general maintenance. Use Long Purge after 3 Standard purge
cycles have not produced an acceptable result.
3. After all ink channels are selected, click on Do Maintenance to begin the Automatic Maintenance.
4. When maintenance is finished click on the Back button to exit.
