Car Reaction: The auxiliary rear photo eye device is rendered inoperative.
Troubleshooting:
1. To restore the operation of the photo eye device, check the corresponding input.
2. The operation of the photo eye device can also be restored by changing the Photo Eye Bypass option to
NO on iView.
3. Related Inputs: PHE2 Rear - Normally low
Rear Photo Eye Failure, REAR PHOTO EYE FAIL
Description: Logged when photo eye continuously activated for predetermined time (4 seconds) while rear
doors are fully closed.
Car Reaction: The rear photo eye is rendered inoperative.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check for blockage or failure of rear photo eye.
2. Related inputs: RearPhotoEye: Normally low
Rear Photo Eye2 Failure, REAR PHOTO EYE2 FAIL
Description: The auxiliary rear photo eye device (required for PEELE doors for PHE integrity tests) was con-
tinuously activated for a predetermined time (four seconds) while the rear doors are fully closed.
Car Reaction: The auxiliary rear photo eye is rendered inoperative.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check for abnormal blockage or failure of the auxiliary rear optical device.
2. Related Inputs: PHE2 Rear - Normally low
Rear Photo Eye Test Fail, REAR PHOTO EYE TEST FAIL
Description: The rear photo eye devices integrity test (required under section 2.13.3.4.9 of the A17.1a-
2008/CSA B44a-08 Elevator Safety Code) has failed. Indicating that one or both the main and auxiliary rear
photo eye devices are not functioning properly and unable to detect an object.
Car Reaction: Car remains in service. Rear doors are prevented from closing. The rear photo eye devices
integrity test is repeated until it is determined that both the main and auxiliary rear photo eye devices are
able to detect an object.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check that both the main auxiliary rear photo eye devices are functioning properly and able to detect an
object.
2. Related Inputs: Rear photo eye and PHE2 Rear - Both Normally low
Rear Safe Edge Bypassed, REAR SAFE EDGE BYP
Description: Rear door safe edge continuously activated for user-defined time and now bypassed per user-
defined setting. (iView/Car Operation/Common/Door Device Bypass Timers.)
Car Reaction: The rear safe edge is rendered inoperative.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check the state of the rear safe edge input.
2. Related inputs: SafeEdgeRear: Normally low
Rear Safe Edge Failure, REAR SAFE EDGE FAIL
Description: Logged when rear door safe edge continuously activated for predetermined time (4 seconds)
while rear doors fully closed.
Car Reaction: The rear door safe edge is rendered inoperative.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check for blockage or failure of rear door mechanical reopening device.
2. Related inputs: RearSafeEdge: Normally low
