Chapter 6
Some parameters will be calculated after placing the corresponding markers.
The parameters of the pressure-flow results (for the filling phase and the
voiding phase) are described in the following subsections.
6.4.1
Filling phase results
Sensation results
For all sensation markers present in a Pressure-flow study the bladder filling,
the vesical pressure and the detrusor pressure will be determined and
displayed on the result screen, as shown in Figure 6.2.

Initial bladder filling
The patient
’s bladder filling at the start of the investigation. This filling is either
entered manually by the user or calculated from the previous investigation.
Infused volume
The infused volume is the volume of fluid infused in the patient bladder during
the filling phase of the pressure-flow study.
Bladder filling
The filling of the bladder at the end of the investigation. It is calculated as the
sum of the initial bladder filling and the infused volume subtracted with the
volume lost through leakage.
Residual urine
The residual urine is defined as the volume of the fluid remaining in the
bladder immediately following the completion of micturition. It can be entered
manually at the end of a pressure-flow study.
Volume lost through leakage
The volume lost through leakage is all urine lost during the filling phase of the
pressure-flow study measured in the flow meter. This is used to calculate the
residual urine in the voiding phase. It is assumed that the patient
’s bladder is
