In the database program, enter and select the
patient name
.

Again, in the database program, click the
New investigation
button.
▪
Click the
Anorectal manometry
button to start the pre-test.
▪
Place the pressure transducer holder at patient level.
▪
Connect the water catheter to the water transducers.
▪
Build up a pressure of 300 mmHg with the pressure cuff.
▪
Open the clamp of the four-way catheter flushing set to start perfusion.
▪
Flush the pressure transducers and catheter. Make sure that there are no
air bubbles left.
▪
Press the
Zero all after 10 seconds
button. Keep the catheter horizontal at
the level of the pressure transducers to zero all pressures.
▪
Move the catheter horizontally up to 30 cm above the pressure transducers.
Check the registration of the transducers by reading the pressure values.
▪
Gently insert the catheter in the anal canal of the patient and position the
balloon in the rectum.
▪
Ask the patient to cough to check the registration of the pressures.
▪
Press the
Start investigation
button to start the investigation. Follow the
procedure for the tests as described in the next subsections.

Air-charged catheters
The air-charged catheter is connected to the Solar Blue module via air
charged pressure transducer cables (Figure 9.16).
