Figure 3.6
Air-charged pressure transducer
The catheters are connected to the Solar Blue module or the Luna module via
air-charged pressure transducers (Figure 3.6). The transducers must be left in
the OPEN position. It is also important to notice that caps are placed on the
catheter to protect against moisture infiltration. Any water that enters the
catheter will cause sensing errors, usually high pressures.
The procedure to prepare the catheters and transducers is as follows:
▪
Connect the pressure transducer cables to the Solar Blue module or Luna
as follows:
Color pressure transducer
Solar Blue or Luna
Yellow
P1 = P
ves
(vesical/bladder pressure)
Blue
P2 = P
abd
(abdominal pressure)
Green
P3 = P
ura
(urethral pressure)
▪
Place a hook and loop strap around the leg of the patient.
▪
Attach the pressure transducers directly to the strap. Be sure to leave the
transducers in the OPEN position.
▪
Disinfect the genital area.
▪
Insert the bladder catheter. Position the vesical sensor (P
ves
) and the
urethral sensor (P
ura
) both in the bladder.
▪
Remove the caps from the bladder catheter. Be sure that no moisture
enters the catheter.
▪
Connect the bladder catheter to the yellow (P
ves
) pressure transducer and if
applicable to the green (P
ura
) pressure transducer (tighten securely!). Be
sure to connect in the OPEN position.
▪
Insert the abdominal catheter in the rectum or the vagina.
