Chapter 8
Rest profile (use the catheter puller)
Press the
Start Puller
button to start the puller. An increase in urethral
pressure (P
ura
) indicates that the urethral sensor enters the urethra.
When P
ura
increases > 10 cmH2O, a Profile start marker will be
inserted automatically (backwards in time). The position of the marker
will be determined by the software and is based on P
ura
at the start.
When P
ura
decreases to a certain value, a Profile end marker will be
inserted automatically. Also, the Maximum Urethra Closure Pressure
marker (MUCP) will be inserted automatically on the highest pressure.
Press the
Stop puller
button to stop the puller. The puller returns to its
starting position automatically. Position both sensors (P
ves
and P
ura
) in
the bladder.
Stress profile (use the catheter puller)
Press the
Start Puller
button to start the puller. Ask the patient to
cough every two seconds. The peaks caused by coughing are used to
calculate transmissions. An increase in urethral pressure (P
ura
)
indicates that the urethral sensor enters the urethra. When P
ura
increases > 10 cmH2O, a Profile start marker will be inserted
automatically (backwards in time). The position of the marker will be
determined by the software and is based on P
ura
at the start. When P
ura
decreases to a certain value, a Profile end marker will be inserted
automatically. Also, the Maximum Urethra Closure Pressure (MUCP)
marker will be inserted automatically on the highest pressure.
Press the
Stop puller
button to stop the puller. The puller returns to its
starting position automatically. Position both sensors (P
ves
and P
ura
) in
the bladder to start another profile. To continue with the filling phase,
you must locate the urethral sensor (P
ura
) at the maximum urethral
pressure and fix the catheter.
Repeat the measurements if needed. At different filling volumes, you may stop
the pump to perform rest and stress profiles.
