Measuring Pves and Pabd
Figure 3.12 shows the catheter setup for two pressures: P
ves
and P
abd
. This
catheter will be used for cystometry and pressure-flow studies.

The procedure is as follows:
▪
Put the DT-XX pressure transducers in the holder and connect the
transducers to the Solar Blue module.
▪
Place the pressure transducer holder at symphysis pubis level.
▪
Disinfect the genital area.
▪
Insert the bladder catheter and connect the catheter to the pressure
transducer P1 (P
ves
). Fix the catheter.
▪
Insert the rectal catheter and connect the catheter to the pressure
transducer P2 (P
abd
). Fix the catheter.
▪
Flush and zero the pressure transducers and catheters (see § 3.5.5).
▪
Ask the patient to cough to check the registration of all pressures.
▪
Start the investigation (cystometry or pressure-flow study; see chapters 5
and 6).

gynecology studies.
