Hot-swap
fan
The
server
comes
with
80-mm
hot-swap
fans
in
front
of
the
PCI-X
slots
and
92-mm
hot-swap
fans
in
front
of
the
memory
cards.
The
following
removal
and
installation
procedures
apply
to
either
size
fan.
When
a
fan
fails
or
is
removed,
the
other
fans
in
the
server
speed
up
to
maintain
a
safe
operating
temperature
in
the
server
until
the
fan
is
reinstalled
or
replaced.
When
the
fan
is
installed
correctly
the
fans
will
slow
down.
To
remove
a
hot-swap
fan,
complete
the
following
steps:

top
cover

ensure
proper
cooling
and
airflow,
do

operate
the
server
for
more
than
2
minutes
with
the
top
cover
removed.

the
fan-locking
handle
by
sliding
the
orange
release
latch
in
the
direction
of
the
arrow.
4.
Pull
upward
on
the
free
end
of
the
handle
to
lift
the
fan
out
of
the
server.
5.
If
you
are
instructed
to
return
the
fan,
follow
all
packaging
instructions,
and
use
any
packaging
materials
for
shipping
that
are
supplied
to
you.
