The most basic of the
Expanded Formats
actually
transmits two rounds of data for every event being
reported. The first round carries the
Account Number
and
the
Event Code,
while the second round, to conform to the
same format, repeats the
Event Code
as if it were the
Account Number, before identifying the
Zone Code.
The
table on the following page reflects a typical sequence of
events that would occur when the CP-220A processes a
report in a
3x1
(or
4x1
)
Expanded Format.
TYPICAL PROCESSING OF EXPANDED FORMAT REPORTS
3x1 (4x1) SEQUENCE
COMMENTS
1. The subscriber's alarm system calls the Central
Station Receiver.
2. The receiver produces its
handshake tone(s).
Each CP-220A Line Card is equipped to send several
different
handshakes until the correct one is
recognized (see
PARAMETER 07 and PARAMETER
62) by the account.
3. Once
the
handshake is recognized, the alarm
system transmits the first part of its
Expanded
Report, as required, containing its Account
Number and Event Code.
For example:
1 2 3 4 3
represents the
Account Number (1234) and the Event
Code (3), designating, for example, Burglary.
4. Once the data is received and verified by the
receiver, it sends its
kissoff signal back to the
subscriber.
Depending on the programming, the received message
may be verified via the
Double-Round Comparison
(page B-5) or via
Parity techniques (page B-7).
5. Rather than hang up after receiving
kissoff, the
alarm system produces the second part of its
Expanded Report.
3 3 3 3 5
is sent, reiterating the
Event Code (3) as the Alarm
Code (3333), and identifying the Zone (5) originating
the alarm.
6. After the data is received and verified, the receiver
once again sends its
kissoff.
Without any additional data to send, the alarm system
hangs up the line, ending the communication.
7. The receiver combines the two rounds of data, as
follows:
1 2 3 4 3
=
1 2 3 4 3 5
3 3 3 3 5
Only the
1 2 3 4 3 5
is displayed by the receiver and/or sent to the printer
and the Automation System.
