COMPUT FAIL / MAN ON MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS
Background:
When used with an
Automation System,
the CP-220A is almost always
operated in its
AUTOMATIC
mode, in which it neither stores nor displays
its incoming messages, but simply decodes and delivers to them to the
Automation System
(and to a printer, if connected). Thus, in the
AUTOMATIC
mode, no operator intervention is required.
NOTE: The CP-220A's
AUTOMATIC
and
MANUAL
modes are discussed
in greater detail on page 2-103 and in
PARAMETER 40,
on page 2-
39.
Were the computer to fail in the above scenario, only the printer, if connected,
will be able to record subscriber messages. To provide for greater Central
Station security,
PARAMETER 39
is used to instruct the CP-220A as to
whether it should leave the
AUTOMATIC
mode and enter the
MANUAL
mode
in the event that the
Automation System
were to experience a failure.
Programming Procedures:
After entering
PARAMETER 39,
[COMPUT FAIL / MAN ON] (meaning "if
the computer fails, go to the
MANUAL
mode") will be displayed; the [ON]
after [MAN] will be flashing.
Press the
NEXT
key or the
MANUAL/PREVIOUS
key to toggle between
[COMPUT FAIL/MAN ON] and [COMPUT FAIL/MAN OFF], which would
keep the CP-220A in its
AUTOMATIC
mode (presuming the use of a printer
to record the messages) even though the computer failed.
NOTE: The selections made in
PARAMETERS 21, 22, 38,
and
46
each
have a bearing on the operation of
PARAMETER 39.
If
PARAMETER 39
will be programmed [ON], be sure that each of
these other parameters has been programmed [ON], as well.
Default:
PARAMETER 39
is defaulted to [COMPUT FAIL/MAN ON].
Advancing to Next Parameter:
The next parameter in
Category C
is
PARAMETER 45.
Because it is not
sequential, it cannot be reached with a single press of the
key. To
advance to
PARAMETER 45,
press the
N
key.
The CP-220A displays the parameter just programmed ([PARAMETER
NUMBER 39]) with its first digit flashing, indicating its request for the
next parameter number.
You can reach
PARAMETER 45
by pressing the
4
key and the
5
key.
