CP-220A/AUTOMATION SYSTEM COMMUNICATIONS
AND SUPERVISION USING PARAMETER 54
PARAMETER 54 PROGRAMMED TO “OFF”
Be sure that
PARAMETERS 20
(DTR),
21
(RTS),
16
(ACK), and
17
(NAK) have each been ENABLED.
• When the CP-220A has data to send to the
computer, it checks that the computer's
RTS
line
is active.
• If active, it sends its data to the
Automation
System,
which acknowledges it with an
ACK
if
successful, or negatively acknowledges it with a
NAK,
if unsuccessful, causing the CP-220A to try
again.
• If the computer's
RTS
is NOT active, the CP-220A
will wait the number of minutes programmed in
PARAMETER 15
(Computer Trouble Delay)
before sending a [COMPUTER FAIL] message to
its display and printer (if used).
• Under these conditions, the CP-220A will check
for the computer's
RTS
level once per minute; if
RTS
is detected, a [COMPUTER RESTORE]
message will be displayed and printed, and the
CP-220A will attempt to send its data again.
• If the computer's
RTS
continues to be inactive, the
CP-220A will repeat its [COMPUTER FAIL]
message every 15 minutes.
PARAMETER 54 PROGRAMMED TO “ON”
Be sure that
PARAMETERS 20
(DTR),
16
(ACK), and
17
(NAK) have each been ENABLED; however,
PARAMETER 21
(RTS) must be DISABLED (set to
[00]).
• When the CP-220A has data to send to the
computer, it will activate its
RTS
(Request-to-Send)
line.
• The computer responds by activating its
CTS
(Clear-to-Send) line.
• When the CP-220A "sees" the computer's
CTS
is active, it will send its data and "turn off" its
RTS
line.
• If the data is successfully received, the
Automation
System
will acknowledge it with an
ACK;
if
unsuccessful, a
NAK
will be sent, causing the
CP-220A to try again.
• If the CP-220A fails to either see the computer's
CTS
line or obtain an
ACK
or
NAK
within the time
interval specified in
PARAMETER 15
(Computer
Trouble Delay), it will send a [COMPUTER FAIL]
message to its display and printer (if used).
• If
a
NAK
is received, the CP-220A will try again and
respond to up to 10
NAK
replies before sending the
[COMPUTER FAIL] message.
•
Once there are no more messages, the CP-220A
drops its
RTS
line and waits until it has additional
data to communicate.
REMEMBER!
To leave the Programming
Mode at any time, press
the
Esc
key. Doing so will
return the CP-220A to its
normal operating mode.
Programming changes will
be stored automatically.
Programming Procedures:
When
PARAMETER 54
is entered, [RTS/CTS PROTOCOL OFF] will be
displayed with [OFF] flashing. Toggling between [ON] and [OFF] is
accomplished by pressing the
NEXT
key or the
MANUAL/PREVIOUS
key.
Default:
PARAMETER 54
defaults to [RTS/CTS PROTOCOL OFF].
Advancing to Next Parameter:
Although there are three remaining parameters in
Category C,
they apply
only if the CP-220A is being used with a Derived Channel system supported
by the
Applied Spectrum
Line Card (REC-12). If this is not the case, the
programming of all the parameters in
Category C
have been completed. If
you haven't already done so, refer to
Appendix B
to review the details of the
Reporting Formats
capable of being processed by the CP-220A. From there,
you are ready to put your receiver "on-line."
