General directions
5.11.2 Before shut-downs
Before the separator is shut-down for a period
of time, the following must be carried out:
•
Remove the bowl, according to instructions in
chapter
6 Dismantling & Assembly on page 75
•
Protect parts in contact with process liquid from
corrosion by applying a thin layer of oil.
•
Remove the O-rings.
Protect cleaned carbon steel parts against
corrosion by oiling. Separator parts that are not
assembled after cleaning must be wiped and
protected against dust and dirt.
NOTE
The bowl must not be left on the spindle during
standstill for more than one week.
Vibration in foundations can be transmitted to the
bowl and produce one-sided loading of the bearings.
The resultant indentations in the ball bearing races
can cause premature bearing failure.
