•
There are several basic rules for assembling
cylindrical bore bearings:
-
Never directly strike a bearing’s rings, cage or
rolling elements while assembling. A ring may
crack or metal fragments break off.
-
Never apply pressure to one ring in order to
assemble the other.
-
Use an ordinary hammer. Hammers with soft
metal heads are unsuitable as fragments of the
metal may break off and enter the bearing.
-
Make sure the bearing is assembled at a right
angle to the shaft (spindle).
•
If necessary use a driving-on sleeve that abuts
the ring which is to be assembled with an
interference fit, otherwise there is a risk that the
rolling elements and raceways may be damaged
and premature failure may follow.
G0587711
Use a driving-on sleeve for bearings that are not
heated.
Angular contact ball bearings
Always fit single-row angular contact ball
bearings with the wide shoulder of the inner
race facing the axial load (upwards on a bowl
spindle).
G0587211
The wide shoulder of the inner race must face
the axial load.
