1. General requirements for starting.
The misbehaviour of combustion chambers becomes noticeable by a few measurable indications most of the times.
These are:
Exhaust temperatures out of the normal range. (> 220 °C)
Temperature of the outer casing and outer lid out of the norm range (> 60 °C).
CO- value is bad, cannot be adjusted. (> 300 ppm).
Water temperature at the outlet is deviating from the norm.
The service engineer needs the following basic equipment to check these values:
Electronic thermometer, measuring range 0 – 500 °C, with one flue gas sound and one contact sensor each.
Soot pump (when using liquefied gas).
Smoke analyser to register the following values:
Flue gas temperature, O2, CO, Lambda -value, flue gas loss
2. Starting requirements.
The following fundamental requirements have to be fulfilled before each start:
110 / 230 V input voltage : existing
On-switch
: on
Adjustable (digital)thermostat : on
Temperature limiting safety device
: on
(Reset button at the right side of the switchbox below the black cap)
Water inflow
: on
Water pump
: on (water quantity > 6 Ltr./min)
Gas
: existing (gas pressure >20 mbar (at measuring point 1 see picture 3 on page 11)
3. Problems caused by non-fulfilled starting requirements.
3.1 Control with Siemens- firing automat.
Burner does not start, green signal is not lighting, no interference signal (red interference signal OFF)
Have the requirements as mentioned under item 2 been complied with?
Is there voltage at clamp No. 6 (see circuit diagram!)?
Yes : Check contactor K1. (By-pass it if necessary for tests)
No : Check the safety fuse F1. If F1 is okay, verify all switches 1 - 5 one after the other. In case of failure of the contac
tor (Operating instruction, page 15, item 13) check the position of the overload. The cut-off point is indicated on a scale at
the housing of the contactor. The cut-off point can be changed by adjusting the contact housing. The cut-off point should be
above 6 Ltr./min.
4. Burner troubles during the starting period.
4.1 Combustion chamber with Siemens firing automat.
4.1.1 The following starting requirements must be complied with:
Firing automat unlocked,
Air pressure governor closed,
Gas valve closed,
No low voltage existing (voltage > 180 V).
The firing automat must be polarized correctly: the phase on terminal 12, the neutral conductor on terminal 2;
otherwise the interference cut off will follow.
4.1.2 After the interference cut off the red signal shines permanently.
The analysis of the cause of failure is being carried out as follows:
Press the red interference button for at least 3 seconds. Then a flash signal will follow.
Count the number of flashes and read the fault in the table for the analysis of failure, operating instructions, page 35.
