F0140 - Potential High Voltage Hazard! Brake compressor HVIL Fault
Error Description
Possible Causes
Possible Solutions
Air brake compressor has reported
a discontinuity in the high voltage
interlock loop (HVIL).
1) Connector C790 unplugged or
defective.
2) Analog HVIL fault.
3) Air brake compressor internal
failure.
1) Plug in connector or replace
HV harness.
2) Troubleshoot specific error.
3) Contact Dana.
The purpose of the HVIL is to provide a warning if
any HV connector is unplugged without the HV
distribution being safely ended. The air brake
compressor monitors continuity between the HVIL
pins on its HV connector (C790). If this connector is
unplugged, the HVIL will be broken and the air brake
compressor will send an error message via CAN.
The air brake compressor is also connected to the
analog HVIL, which is a physical circuit that runs
through various HV connectors on the vehicle. If a
connector is unplugged unsafely, the HVIL will be
broken and the VCU will detect the loss of signal
voltage on the circuit.
If one of the analog HVIL errors (F0061, F0062, or
F0063) is raised, the problem is probably an
unplugged connector or other discontinuity
elsewhere on the analog HVIL. The technician
should refer to the analog HVIL troubleshooting
subtree to locate the problem.
If none of F0061, F0062, or F0063 are raised, the
problem may be local to connector C790. The
connector may be unplugged or there may be a loss
of continuity between its HVIL pins.
