F0026 (Fault Reason 38)
Error Description Possible Causes Possible Solutions
BMS has detected that the HV
system has failed to pass the
precharge stage.
1) ESS fault. 1) Troubleshoot specific error.
The precharge circuit manages the voltage ramp-up
of the HV system upon startup of the vehicle.
Precharge ends when the voltage of the HV
distribution system reaches 95% of the ESS voltage.
The vehicle is then enabled to start. If the BMS
detects a problem during this process, precharge will
be flagged as failed and the vehicle startup will be
aborted.
Fault reason 38 is raised by the BMS when the
voltage ramp-up exceeds the required time limit, a
short circuit or overcurrent is detected in the
precharge circuit, or the BMS fails to complete its
internal pre-check. The BMS will prevent the vehicle
from starting.
The VCU independently monitors the precharge and
will raise its own error F0017 if it detects that
precharge has failed. Error F0018 may also appear if
precharge has failed more than 3 times. If error
F0026 (BMS Fault Reason 38) appears without
F0017 or F0018, contact Dana for further
investigation.
