F0023 - Vehicle Performance Limited by Battery System
Error Description Possible Causes Possible Solutions
BMS derates high voltage power. 1) ESS fault. 1) Troubleshoot specific error.
The BMS derates high voltage power in response to
certain faults. F0023 is triggered if the BMS requests
limp mode, meaning the vehicle is still drivable under
very restricted conditions, or requests driving to be
disabled entirely. The error is also triggered if the
ESS state of charge (SOC) falls below 12%. In this
case the high voltage power will be limited to 50%.
This error is expected to be accompanied by error
F0026 which provides a BMS fault reason code
indicating the specific reason the limitation was
requested. The BMS will request limp mode in
response to fault reason 28, 44, 45, 47, 48, 52, 54,
56, 58, 60, 62, 64, 66, 68, or 70, and will request
driving to be disabled in response to fault reason 5,
6, 7, 12, 13, 15, 16, 29, 37, 41, or 42. If the SOC falls
below 12%, BMS fault reason 33 or 34 will be raised.
If error F0023 appears without one of the listed
F0026 BMS fault reasons, the technician should
contact Dana for further investigation.
