4. Inspect the manual transmission flywheel for the following:
z
Pitted surface (1)
z
Grooved or scored surface (2)
z
Rusted surface (3)
z
Damaged ring gear teeth (4)
z
Loose or improperly positioned ring gear
The ring gear has an interference fit onto the flywheel and should be positioned completely against
the flange of the flywheel.
z
Missing, bent, or damaged pressure plate locating pins
The 2 locating pins are installed into the flywheel and spaced 170 degrees apart to ensure proper
orientation of the clutch pressure plate to the engine flywheel during assembly.
