NOTE:
On Automatic Transmission equipped
engines, the flywheel must be installed with the
flange collar to transmission side (fig. 28V).
Coat thread end of bolts with sealer then install
bolts and torque to specifications.
Engine Mounts
Engine mounts (fig. 29V) are the non-adjustable type
and seldom require service. Broken or deteriorated
mounts should be replaced immediately, because of the
added strain placed on other mounts and drive line
components.
Front Mount Replacem ent
With 3 0 7 or 3 2 7
cu. in. Engines
1. Remove distributor cap.
2. Remove mount retaining bolt from below frame
mounting bracket.
3. Raise front of engine and remove mount-to-engine
bolts and remove mount.
CA U TIO N :
Raise engine only enough for suf
ficient clearance. Check for interference be
tween rear of engine and cowl panel.
4. Replace mount to engine and lower engine into place.
5. Install retaining bolt and torque all bolts to
specifications.
With 3 6 6 cu. in. Engine
1. Remove cotter keys then loosen front mount bolt.
2. Raise engine enough to remove weight from cushions.
3. Remove nut, bolt, spacer and cushions and reinstall
with new cushions.
4. Lower engine and torque bolt to specifications.
5. Install cotter key.
Rear Mount Replacement
Exce p t G E 1 0 -2 0 Series
1. Support engine weight to relieve rear mounts.
2. Remove mount attaching bolts from frame outrigger
and clutch housing and remove rear mounting
cushions.
3. Install new mounting cushions and bolts.
4. Lower engine onto mounts.
5. Torque bolts to specifications then bend lock tabs
to bolt head.
G E 1 0 -2 0 Series
The two piece rear support in transmission case ex
tension may be removed without removing the transmis
sion from the vehicle. Replace both* halves as a unit.
1. Position the fan blade with the blades pointing at the
