Testing link end hardware
This section describes how to test the link end hardware when it fails on startup or during
operation.
Before testing link end hardware, confirm that all outdoor drop cables, that is those that
connect the ODU to equipment inside the building, are of the supported type, as defined in
Ordering components on page 2-24 .
These tests apply to installations that use the PoE power supply. If the PIDU is installed
instead of the PoE power supply, the test procedures will be different.
Checking the PoE power supply LEDs
If a fault is suspected in the link end hardware, check the PoE power supply LED states
and use
Table 50 to choose the correct test procedure.
The PTP 250 is supplied with one of two variants of the PoE power supply: the 9001GR
(
Figure 6 ) or the PD7001 ( Figure 7 ).

(*) For PoE type 9001GR, if the PORT LED is off, this may indicate either “no power
detected” or “incorrect voltage”.
If a fault is suspected in the ODU-PoE drop cable, perform Testing resistance in the ODU
cable on page 8-8 .
