Table 35
SNMP Configuration attributes
Attribute
Meaning
SNMP Access:
Index
The index of the table entry.
Community
SNMP community string. This acts like a password between the
network management system and the distributed SNMP clients
(PTP 250 systems). Only if the community string is configured
correctly on all SNMP entities can the flow of management
information take place. By convention the default value is set to
‘public’.
Access
Access level allowed. To allow operators to monitor the status of
links, SNMP clients (PTP 250 systems) are limited to read only
access to the SNMP server.
OID
The point in the object identifier hierarchy at which access is
allowed.
SNMP Traps:
Index
Sequential number of the trap destination.
Destination IP
IP address of the SNMP server (trap receiver). This is normally
the network management system, but it may be a separate trap
receiver.
Destination Port
Server port at which SNMP traps are received
Community
SNMP community string (see above).
Version
Version number of the trap destination. Select V1 or V2.
Alert
Configuration
A list of events (or status changes). To select which events are to
generate alerts, tick the boxes in the SNMP column.
If SNMP and SMTP are both enabled, the Alert Configuration
section contains tick boxes for both SNMP and SMTP.
