6 Reprocessing and Maintenance
Authorized service All of the service tasks, such as changes, modifications, repairs, calibrations, etc.
may be carried out only by the manufacturer or manufacturer-approved trained
and skilled technicians. Authorized service technicians are trained and certified
only by the manufacturer. Receiving technical documentation from the manu-
facturer does not authorize individuals to perform repairs, adjustments, or alter-
ations on the device or accessories/peripherals.
NOTE!
The careful and gentle handling of the video lens during the reprocessing and af-
terwards has a decisive influence on the service life of the product.
6.1 Preparing for Reprocessing
Before cleaning and reprocessing, video lens must be removed from the used
camera head. To do this, see chapter 4.1 "Connecting video lens to a C-mount
camera" and proceed in reverse order.
WARNING!
Make sure to use proper precautions when coming in contact with a contaminat-
ed video lens (gloves, safety goggles, etc.)!
NOTE!
Repeated reprocessing has little effect on the video lens. The product life end is
normally determined by wear and damage through use.
NOTE!
Do not use ultrasound devices for the reprocessing (cleaning, disinfection, steril-
ization) of the video lens!
Preparation for decontamination at the us-
age site
Use a disposable cloth to remove coarse dirt from the video lens directly after
use.
Do not use substances or materials that bake on or permanently fix dirt in place
and do not use hot water (>40 °C/>104 °F) because the success of the cleaning
can be negatively affected by residues or deposits that cannot be removed.
Storage and transport To avoid damage to the video lens and contamination of the environment, use a
closed container for storing and transporting to the reprocessing location.
Make sure the video lens is not damaged by sharp objects during storage and
transport.
For cleaning, do not use objects with sharp edges or metal tools on the video lens
and optical glass surfaces. These can damage the video lens.
The video lens may not be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath. Optical components
could be damaged.
NOTE!
Do not use acidic (pH value
≤ 6), strongly alkaline cleaners or disinfectants (pH
value > 8) since these could damage the video lens.
Cleaning and disinfection agents Comply with the concentration information and insertion times specified by the
manufacturers of the cleaners and disinfectants. Insertion times in the disinfec-
tant of more than 30 minutes could damage the video lens.
