Changing the phrase name
Attaches a name to the recorded phrase.
1. Turn the SELECT dial to select the MIDI phrase
you wish to rename.
2. Press the MODE button.
The MODE indicator light comes on.
3. Turn the SELECT dial to '1.6 PHRASE NAME'
then press the SELECT dial.
4. In the phrase name setting screen, select
characters by turning the SELECT dial.
Press the SELECT dial to confirm the character selection.
Available characters:
Alphabet letters (capitals); katakana characters; sonant
marks (i.e. dots & circles added to kana symbols to
indicate voiced consonants and 'p' sounds); spaces;
and the following symbols.

NEXT:
Moves the cursor position forward one
space. Press the SELECT dial to
execute.
BACK:
Moves the cursor position back one
space. Press the SELECT dial to
execute.
INSERT:
Inserts a single space. Press the
SELECT dial to execute.
DELETE:
Deletes a single character. Press the
SELECT dial to execute.
END:
Completes the character input and
confirms the phrase name.
5. Once you have finished inputting the phrase
name, turn the SELECT dial to 'END' then press
the SELECT dial.
6. The confirmation screen is displayed. Press the
ENTER button to confirm.
To cancel the setting, turn the SELECT dial to 'CANCEL'
then press the ENTER button.
Once the phrase name setting is complete, the display
returns to the settings selection screen.
7. Press the MODE button.
The setting is completed and the display returns to the
default screen.
Setting the sync source
Configures the phrase sync source. When using the UDMR
either on its own or as the MMC, MSC or MTC master, the
sync source is set to 'Internal'.
Please note that when the 'External' setting is selected,
playback does not occur without sync signal input from an
external device.
1. Press the MODE button.
The MODE indicator light comes on.
2. Turn the SELECT dial to '1.7 SYNC SOURCE'
then press the SELECT dial.
3. Turn the SELECT dial to select the sync source.
Press the SELECT dial once you have finished setting the
sync source.

Phrase playback conforms to the
internal clock.
External
Phrase playback conforms to the
external sync signal. Refer to
'Setting the sync signal' on page 73
to configure the sync signal type.
4. When the sync source is set to 'EXTERNAL', the
'BLACKOUT' settings screen is displayed.
Turn the SELECT dial to set the blackout function to ON
or OFF.
When the blackout function is set to ON, all DMX
channels are transmitted at 0% if the external sync signal
is interrupted. The phrase is played back when the sync
signal resumes.
When the blackout function is set to OFF, the UDRM
maintains this interrupted state.
Once you have finished setting the sync source, press the
SELECT button.
5. The confirmation screen is displayed. Press the
ENTER button to confirm.
To cancel the setting, turn the SELECT dial to 'CANCEL'
then press the ENTER button.
Once the sync source setting is complete, the display
returns to the settings selection screen.
6. Press the MODE button.
The setting is completed and the display returns to the
default screen.
