4-M/E Main Panel
force masks may be set up for each keyer. Masks can be created by pattern
generators, or can be based on a video source that has been clip and gain
adjusted to create the mask control signal. Masks cannot be applied to
preset patterns.
The delegation buttons in the Keyers subpanel also apply to the Masks sub-
panel, and are used to select which M/E’s keyer will be affected by the
masking controls. Two additional delegation buttons (
Inhibit Mask
,
Force Mask
) exist in the Masks subpanel (described below).
The Transform subpanel with its joystick can be manually delegated to
control the position of the wipe pattern shape (except
Box
) used by a mask
(see
Transform Subpanel on page 127
). The Transform subpanel can also be
configured to autodelegate to the wipe pattern generator in use on the
Masks subpanel (User Preference).
Inhibit and Force Mask Delegation Buttons
The
Inhibit Mask
and
Force Mask
buttons delegate the Masks subpanel buttons
and knobs to control one of these two mask types. Changes to the masking
controls affect only the selected mask type of the keyer delegated in the
Keyers subpanel. A high button tally indicates which mask is being con-
trolled. If the other mask is also active, its delegation button will low tally.
Knob control of the opacity of the delegated mask is described in
Mask Source Buttons
Six different mask sources are available for each mask type. Only one mask
source can be selected at a time. Pressing the currently high tally mask
source button turns off masking for the currently delegated inhibit or force
mask type.
•
Four mask sources (
Wipe C1
,
Wipe C2
,
Keyer Wipe
,
Box
) correspond to wipe
pattern generators selected via the Wipe menu. These wipe pattern
generators may be shared. Knob and joystick control of the position of
these shapes is described in
.
•
The
Utility 1
and
Utility 2
mask sources originate from the utility buses.
Typically these are used to bring in garbage masks from a Still Store or
some external device. Knob control of Clip and Gain is described in
Mask Invert Button
The
Mask Invert
button inverts the sense of the delegated mask. When on,
areas formerly masked will be visible, and previously visible areas will be
masked. Masks are normally active in the center of the pattern. An inverted
mask is active outside the pattern.
