Section 2 — Control Panels
The
Play/Gang Roll
button plays the controlled device. When Gang Roll is
active, multiple devices can be triggered for playback simultaneously.
For DDRs and VTRs, pressing
Fast Fwd
and
Rew
fast forwards or rewinds to
the beginning or end of the currently loaded clip. VTRs will require time
for these actions.
Holding
Stop
and pressing
Rew
or
Fast Fwd
will jog a device one frame
forward or backward.
The
Mark
button is used to define a cue point that is different from the begin-
ning of the clip. When a mark has been defined for the device, the
Mark
button will low tally. When a new clip is loaded on a device, the cue point
is set to the beginning of the clip.
The
Cue/Load
button is used to park the device to the cue point. The
Cue/Load
button goes high tally when the clip is at the cue point, and is off when the
device is not cued. The
Cue/Load
button is also used with
Prev Event
and
Next Event
buttons to load a new clip while browsing (see below).
Pressing the
Prev Event
and
Next Event
buttons will scroll through a clip list or
page list reported by the device. This only affects what is displayed in the
clip name window. When the current clip does not appear on the readout
during browsing, the
Cue/Load
button will go low tally, indicating you can
load a different clip. Pressing
Cue/Load
at this time will load the currently
displayed clip. The
Prev Event
and
Next Event
buttons go low tally to indicate
there are more clips in its direction, and will go high tally to indicate the
direction to scroll to reach the current clip. Clip browsing can be canceled
by changing the machine control delegation.
Control of Devices with Still Recall Only
Devices that do not have playback or animation capability can still be con-
trolled from the Machine Control subpanel. The transport controls
(
Fast Fwd
,
Rew
,
Stop
,
etc.) do not function, but these devices often have some
type of control for recalling a still for display. Many provide a way to scroll
through a page list (either by names or numbers). In this case, the
Prev Event
,
Next Event
, and
Cue/Load
buttons operate as described above.
Off-Air Adv
This button works with DDR Event List s. When the
Off-Air Adv
button is on
for a DDR with an Event List loaded for that DDR, the next clip on that list
will be loaded and cued when the currently loaded clip goes off-air.
Off-Air Adv
can be used in conjunction with
Auto Start
button and an Event List
to automate the playback of clips during production. See
for more information.
