Note When a Background matte generator has been selected for control, only the
Keyer Wipe button will light when either the Keyer Wipe, C1 Wipe, or
C2 Wipe button is pressed. Background mattes have their own simple wipe
pattern generator producing a single line that can be rotated, offset, softened,
and textured.
• The
Utility 1-2
buttons selects video from a utility bus as a keying control
for a wash. The luminance of the video signal produces the division
between the base and matte fills. The Wash Geometry Clip and Gain
knobs adjust the luminance threshold and softness of the wash, respec-
tively.
Wash Geometry Knobs
The knobs in the wash geometry area control parameters that affect the
wipe pattern generator or video source used to define the geometry of the
wash. Like other wipe points of use, some of the wash parameters are
determined by the wipe pattern shape itself (rotation, position, etc.).
Adjusting these parameters will affect other points of use using the same
wipe pattern generator. Other parameters (size, offset, softness) affect only
the wash and do not affect other wipe pattern generator points of use.
The parameters for each wash geometry knob are labeled. These controls
include texture, rotation, offset, size, softness, clip, and gain. Two of the
wash geometry area knobs control different parameters depending on the
state of the panel controls. Each of these knobs are labeled with all its con-
trollable parameters (
Offset/Size/Clip
and
Softness/Gain
).
When
C1 Wipe
,
C2 Wipe
, or
Keyer Wipe
is selected the
Offset/Size/Clip
knob con-
trols either Offset or Size, depending on the wipe pattern generators being
used. If the same wipe pattern generator is used for both the wash geom-
etry source and the wipe itself, Offset control is available. Offset control
adjusts the location of the wash edge relative to the center of the border,
and this wash edge tracks a moving transition or preset pattern. If the wipe
pattern generators being used are different, Size control is available. Size
control adjusts the size of the wash shape, which remains at a fixed location
(a transition or preset pattern will move across these fixed wash edges).
