Matte Fill Button
The
Matte Fill
button determines what signal will be used as the key fill by
the keyer. When off, the key fill signal currently selected on the fill bus will
be used. When on, a matte signal will be used.
Video Key Button
The
Video Key
button determines what signal the keyer will use to cut the
hole in the background. When off, the key signal (if defined) of the source
selected on the cut bus will be used (the normal setting for a Linear key).
When on, the video signal of the selected source will be used (the normal
setting for a luminance key). If a source does not have a defined key signal,
when
Video Key
is off the keyer will produce a full raster key signal, which
is useful when the image is manipulated with a Transform Engine or
external DVE.
Note
Video Key is generally used only when the source's key signal is not appro-
priate. This would be the case for a character generator producing a wide key
(for a border or shadow) which the operator decides to matte fill. In this case,
the video signal defines the character area and usually produces a better
result.
Keyer Priority Buttons
The
Current Prior
and
Next Prior
buttons are inactive in Release 11.0, except
they DPOP to the Keyer Priority menu.
Auto Setup Button
The
Auto Setup
button is used to automate chroma keyer setup. When
Auto Setup
is pressed, a cursor appears on the M/E's preview output and the
joystick can be used to position the cursor over a representative area of the
chroma key backing color. The button on the top of the joystick is pressed
to capture this region. Keyer settings are then calculated from the area
sample taken.
Auto setup for luminance keys is under development.
Key Invert Button
The
Key Invert
button reverses the polarity of the key control signal. When
Key Invert is active, black areas of the key cut signal cause replacement of
the background, and the white key cut areas cause the background to be
retained.
Show Key Button
The
Show Key
button is used for viewing the key control signal. This button
does not affect the output of the M/E. Holding down this button displays
the black and white key control signal of the currently delegated keyer on
that M/E’s preview output. The results of any clipping and masking will
be shown.
