Migrating from DSM v6.1.0.9229 to DSM 6.4.2

The procedures to upgrade a standalone DSM are described in

"Upgrading a Single Node Deployment" on

page 115

To upgrade an HA deployment, follow the procedure described in the HA chapter.

If you are upgrading from an earlier version of DSM v5.3 or v5.3.1 with KMIP data, contact Thales e-Security

Support.

To migrate from a V5800 with HSM appliance to a V6100 appliance, see “Migrating from V5 appliances to V6x00

appliances”

Migrating from DSM v6.1.0.9229 to DSM 6.4.2

You must migrate to DSM v6.4.2 due to database improvements. It is not an upgrade. As a result, the following
conditions exist:

You can only migrate from DSM v6.1.9229 or a later version, to DSM v6.4.2. If you have a version that is lower

than DSM v6.1.9229, upgrade to DSM v6.1.9229 first, then migrate to DSM v6.4.2.

After migrating, you cannot restore older backups created before the migration. Only backups from 6.1.0.9229 or

higher can be restored to v6.4.2.

Best Practices for Migration

To ensure the integrity of your data:

Perform a backup before performing the migration. See

"Backup current DSM configuration" on the facing page

for

more information.

After the migration, perform a new backup.
