Using the FOMA terminal at the destination
In the default setting at the time of purchase, the FOMA terminal
automatically identifies available network operator after switching
the FOMA terminal on overseas, so you can use the
communication services without thinking about the destination
country or region.
Operator name display
During overseas use, the current network type is indicated by an
icon and the network operator name appears on the standby
screen.
The current network type is indicated by one of the following icons:
Available service for each network
Available services differ depending on the network you are
connecting to.
○: Available (May not be available depending on the network
operator or region)
×: Not available
※1: Even if there is an incoming videophone call, the phone does
not answer the call. When you make a videophone call, the
FOMA terminal automatically makes a call by voice call if
"Voice auto switch" is set to "ON".
※2: You cannot receive MessageF.
Troubleshooting
● When " 圏外 " remains on the screen
・ Check the "Newtork switch" setting.
・ Check the "NW search mode" setting.
・ When you first use the FOMA terminal after arriving at the
destination, set "Network switch" to "Automatic" or "GSM". If
you changed the setting to "Automatic" while in Japan, turn
the FOMA terminal off and then turn it back on.
・ This FOMA terminal provides international roaming service,
therefore after you switch on it may take some time to search
for reception and while searching "
" may appear.
● Videophone call/i-mode/SMS is not available
・ Check that the current network operator provides the service
on " 国際サービスご利用ガイド" or DoCoMo website.
・ Check the "Newtork switch" setting.
・ Check the "NW search mode" setting.
