Attention:
Do not allow the server to fall over.
Step 2.
Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see “Removing the left-side cover” on page 182).
Step 3.
Remove the air baffle (see “Removing the air baffle” on page 188).
Step 4.
Pull the release tab outward and unlock the battery/flash power module retention clip.

Step 5.
Disconnect the battery/flash power module cable from the battery/flash power module cable
connector on the battery/flash power module (see “Internal cable routing and connectors” on
page 33).
Step 6.
Lift the battery/flash power module up to remove the battery/flash power module from the
battery/flash power module holder.
If you are instructed to return the server component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions,
and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Installing a RAID adapter battery or flash power module remotely in the server
Use this information to install a RAID adapter battery or flash power module remotely in the server.
Read the safety information in “Safety” on page v and “Installation guidelines” on page 29.
If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to turn off the server and peripheral devices,
and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
Note:
When you install any RAID adapter that comes with batteries, it is sometimes necessary to install the
batteries in another location in the server to prevent the batteries from overheating.
To install a RAID adapter battery or flash power module remotely in the server, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
Carefully turn the server on its side so that it is lying flat, with the cover facing up.
Attention:
Do not allow the server to fall over.
Step 2.
Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see “Removing the left-side cover” on page 182).
Step 3.
Remove the air baffle (see “Removing the air baffle” on page 188).
Step 4.
Install the ServeRAID adapter on the system board (see “Installing an adapter” on page 216).
