Configuring SMB shares

NOTE:

Before attempting to configure SMB, ensure that the DNS entries for the user network IP

addresses have PTR (reverse lookup) records configured.

While setting up SMB, you will need to configure user authentication and then create SMB shares.
For more information, see “Configuring authentication for SMB, FTP, and HTTP” and “Using SMB”
in the HP StoreAll OS User Guide.

Configuring other HP StoreAll OS Software features

See the HP StoreAll OS User Guide for information about configuring the following features:

Configuring block snapshots with HP StoreAll file systems and HP 3PAR Storage

Some things to consider when working with an HP StoreAll file system and HP 3PAR Storage:

•

Creating block snapshots on an HP StoreAll file system using HP 3PAR virtual volume sets
(VVSET) is not supported. A VVSET allows user to combine two or more virtual volumes (VV).
See the HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 Storage Installation and Deinstallation Guide and other
applicable HP 3PAR documentation for more information about virtual volumes and virtual
volume sets.

•

In a cluster environment, when presenting LUNs to the HP StoreAll 8200 Gateway system
from HP 3PAR StoreServ storage, present LUNs to the host set and not the host. Presenting
LUNs to the host causes duplicate LUNs to be generated and block snapshots to fail upon
creation.

•

You must execute the

ibrix_vs -a -n 3parstoragehostname

command before creating

block snapshots. If you do not execute this command before creating block snapshots, block
snapshots fail without discovering the storage.

Using ibrixinit

Use the

ibrixinit

utility to install or uninstall the Fusion Manager, node, and

statstool

packages on a node. You can also use it to install or uninstall the HP StoreAll client package on
a Linux client.

The

ibrixinit

utility is provided with the product distribution. Expand the distribution tarball,

or mount the distribution DVD in a directory of your choice. This action creates an

ibrix

subdirectory containing the installer program. For example, if you expand the tarball in

/root

,

the installer is in

/root/ibrix

.
