4 Configuring clusters remotely with the Getting Started
Wizard
This chapter provides instructions on adding initial and subsequent servers to a cluster and
configuring clusters after you have completed networking installation procedures and configured
the servers in your network, as described in
“Installing the HP StoreAll OS Software and configuring
the HP StoreAll Storage system” (page 50)
and
“Discovering and configuring HP StoreAll servers
and their storage” (page 127)
.
Use the
Getting Started Wizard
is used to configure a cluster. The cluster configuration process
includes:
•
“Step 1 - Setting up Cluster Settings” (page 107)
•
“Step 2 - Designating IP addresses for DNS/NTP servers” (page 109)
•
“Step 3 - Reviewing servers listed on the File Servers screen and designating which servers to
be included in the cluster” (page 109)
•
“Step 4 - Creating a Default File System” (page 112)
•
“Step 5 - Reviewing the Summary” (page 113)
If you encounter issues while completing the wizard functions, see
“Troubleshooting the Getting
Started Wizard” (page 114)
for information on common setup problems.
NOTE:
This wizard can only be used with HP StoreAll 8xxx, 93xx, and 9730 Storage systems.
If you are recovering a server, do not use the
Getting Started Wizard
to join the server to the cluster.
Instead, exit the
Getting Started Wizard
screen, and use the
ASCII GUI Configuration Wizard
to
join the recovered server to the cluster. See the procedure for recovering a node in the HP StoreAll
Storage Administrator Guide for your platform.
Getting Started Wizard prerequisites
Before using the Getting Started Wizard to configure a cluster, make sure you have the following
network information available.
For each server:
•
One IP address to assign to the network bond
•
One IP address to assign to the iLO interface
For the cluster management IP:
•
One virtual IP address (VIF) to assign to the entire cluster for management use. This VIF becomes
the IP address of the cluster and remains highly available. Use it to connect to the GUI for
future management sessions.
For external network services:
•
IP addresses of your DNS servers
•
IP addresses of your NTP servers
Accessing the Getting Started Wizard
To access the
Getting Started Wizard
