Initialization Job Limitation
Initialization Job Limitation
A Spooler initialization job is a job that precedes any other jobs. For FASTP network
printers, an initialization job is sent with the first regular job. The number of copies for
this regular job cannot exceed 999 copies.
Error-Handling Considerations
Note the following error-handling considerations for the FASTP network print
processes:
Normal device errors are handled by the FASTP network print processes in the
same manner as the standard FASTP print process. The device error is reported
back to the Spooler supervisor. Recovery is based upon the nature of the error and
is determined by the Spooler supervisor.
The Spooler supervisor notifies the FASTP network print process to retry those
errors that are considered to be retryable (such as device not ready and device in
use errors). The interval between retries and the number of retries is governed by
the values configured for the specific device using the
RETRY
and
TIMEOUT
parameters in a Spoolcom DEV command.
The Spooler supervisor instructs the FASTP network print process to stop printing
the job when a non-recoverable device error is reported (such as, a device down
error). This situation requires operator intervention to recover unless the Spooler
RESTART
parameter has been specified as non-zero in the Spoolcom DEV
command when configuring the device.
SELPRI
Specifies the selection priority of the batch job. The effect of SELPRI is
the same as that of any other Spooler printer within the Spooler
subsystem. This parameter is not transmitted to the print process.
START
Places a batch job in the ready state. The effect of START is the same as
that of any other Spooler printer within the Spooler subsystem. This
parameter is not transmitted to the print process.
STATUS
Displays the status of batch jobs. The effect of STATUS is the same as
that of any other Spooler printer within the Spooler subsystem. This
parameter is not transmitted to the print process.
UNLINK
Unlinks the specified job from the batch job. The effect of UNLINK is the
same as that of any other Spooler printer within the Spooler subsystem.
This parameter is not transmitted to the print process.
