Configuring a FASTP Network Print Process in the 

Spooler Subsystem

LUTOFVALUE

Sets the sequence that designates the top-of-form (new page) that 
the print process is to use for LU1 and LU3 type printers only. In most 
cases, the effect of LUTOFVALUE is the same as that of any other 
Spooler printer, however support for LUTOFVALUE can vary based 
on the specific FASTP network print process being implemented. See 
the product-specific sections of this manual for exceptions.

PARM

Specifies device parameters that are passed to the print process. For 
descriptions of the PARM bits that can be specified for any FASTP 
network print process and how the value is determined, see 

Defining 

the Spooler DEV PARM Attribute

 on page 2-11 and 

Calculating the 

Value of the PARM Attributes

 on page 2-13. 

Also note the following:

While in most cases, the bits supported and their meanings are 
the same for all the FASTP network print processes, support can 
vary based on the specific FASTP network print process being 
implemented. See the product-specific sections of this manual for 
exceptions. 

With one exception, at a minimum, bit 5 (%2000) should always 
be set to force the FASTP network print process to read the 
FASTCNFG file. For FASTPTCP only, beginning with the G06.10 
and D48.02 RVUs, this bit is no longer required and the 
FASTCNFG/FASTKCON files are always read.

PREXLATE

Specifies postspacing (vertical space after printing a line) as the 
default vertical spacing mode. Applies only to printers connected 
through the Universal Interface controller (subtypes 1, 5, and 7). In 
most cases, the effect of PREXLATE is the same as that of any other 
Spooler printer, however support for PREXLATE can vary based on 
the specific FASTP network print process being implemented. See 
the product-specific sections of this manual for exceptions.

PROCESS

Specifies the FASTP network print process associated with the printer 
represented by the device name. The effect of PROCESS is the 
same as that of any other Spooler printer. 

RESTART

Specifies whether the supervisor process should attempt to restart a 
device after the device has been placed offline because of a 
nonretryable I/O error. In most cases, the effect of RESTART is the 
same as that of any other Spooler printer, however support for 
RESTART can vary based on the specific FASTP network print 
process being implemented. See the product-specific sections of this 
manual for exceptions.

RETRY

Specifies the number of seconds a print process waits before retrying 
an I/O operation that has failed because of a retryable I/O error. The 
effect of RETRY is the same as that of any other Spooler printer.
