Configuring a FASTP Network Print Process in the
Spooler Subsystem
Configuring a FASTP Network Print Process in the Spooler
Subsystem
Spooler subsystem configuration is performed using the Spoolcom interface.
Table 2-2
summarizes the Spoolcom commands that are used for FASTP network print process
configuration. These commands are independent of either the G-series or D-series
release version updates (RVUs). For further details about these commands, including
their complete syntax, see the
Spooler Utilities Reference Manual
.
Configuration information supplied with Spoolcom commands is maintained in a
Spooler control file used by the Spooler supervisor process and typically includes:
The FASTP network print process name
A Spooler device name for each printer
Device attributes, such as the DEVTYPE and PARM attributes
One or more job locations for each printer
Beginning with the G06.10 and D48.02 RVUs, when using FASTPTCP, you can
also include print process configuration parameters by adding a PARM attribute to
the Spoolcom PRINT command for FASTPTCP. This configuration information is
optional.
Assigning a FASTP Network Print Process Name
The FASTP network print process name is the process name which is used by the
Spooler to represent the print process. The process name is assigned in a Spoolcom
PRINT command.

OPEN
Access a Spooler subsystem other than the default subsystem.
Specify the object code file and the process name for the FASTP
network print process. In addition, beginning with the G06.10 and
D48.02 RVUs, the PARM attribute can also specify additional
print process configuration parameters for FASTPTCP.

FASTP network print processes for print-file formatting and
device control.
