Spooler Configuration Considerations for
FASTPNOV
The Spooler configuration tasks required for any FASTP network print process also are
required for the FASTPNOV print process. However, special consideration should be
given to the following aspects of these configuration tasks for the FASTPNOV
configuration:
Device name format
Some device attributes
For a complete discussion of the Spooler configuration tasks required to configure a
FASTPNOV print process, see
Configuring a FASTP Network Print Process in the
Spooler Subsystem
on page 2-5.
Device Names
The Spooler device name is the name which is used by the Spooler to represent the
network print queue.
Spooler device names for NetWare print queues consist of an optional node name, a
device name, and an optional device-name qualifier as follows:
where
\
node
specifies the name of the node to which the LAN is attached. A node name
consists of a backslash (
\
) followed by one to seven alphanumeric characters; the
first alphanumeric character must be a letter. If the node name is omitted, the
default node name is the name of the node on which the LAN print process is
running. A node name and a device name are separated by a period (.).
$
device-name
is the name of the IPXPROTO process (the transport process for HP NonStop
IPX/SPX that connects the NetWare LAN using the print queue to an HP NonStop
system). A device name consists of a dollar sign (
$
) followed by one to seven
alphanumeric characters; the first alphanumeric character must be a letter. A
device name and a device-name qualifier are separated by a period (.).
