X25AM Subdevice Configuration Considerations
DEVTYPE
specifies the device type and subtype for a subdevice. This value should be
specified as (9,0) for PTP subdevices and (6,0) for ITI subdevices.
DESTADDR
specifies the network user address (NUA) of the device that the subdevice uses as
the called address in outgoing call request packets.
The network user address (NUA) used in the call request packet by FASTPX25
can be configured in one of two ways:
To allow the same subdevice to be used for many printers and save on SVC
costs, omit this parameter and allow it to default to a null value. In this case,
FASTPX25 searches the FASTCNFG file for an X25NUA value. For details
about how to configure the X25NUA parameter, see
FASTCNFG DEVICE and
MACRO Configuration for FASTPX25
on page 6-12.
To configure a default NUA for the subdevice (that is, to use one address for
each printer), specify the NUA in the X25AM configuration by setting this
parameter.
For a more detailed discussion of setting the NUA address, see
X.25 NUA and
SVC Considerations
on page 6-6.
REMOTENET
specifies the addressing conventions to be used when building the called address
in the call request packet. This value defaults to the NETID for the line. This
parameter should only be specified if the PAD is installed on a different network.
CPADPARAMS
specifies the conversational-mode X.3 parameters. This parameter is valid only if
the PROTOCOL parameter value is ITI. If you do not specify this value for the
subdevice, the CPADPARAMS values configured for the X25AM line will be used.
If no CPADPARAMS parameters are configured for the line,
X25AM
uses the
standard PADPARMS according to the NETID. Consult the following manuals for
further information:
SCF Reference Manual for X25AM
(for D-series systems)
X25AM Configuration and Management Manual
(for G-series systems)
For the PTP protocol the remaining X25AM subdevice-specific parameters have no
meaning and should be left to default.
The X25AM subdevice also must be configured as a device in the Spooler
configuration, and FASTPX25 must be configured as the print process responsible for
this device. Spooler device configuration is described in
Spooler Configuration
Considerations for FASTPX25
on page 6-9.
