Configuring a FASTP Network Print Process in the
Spooler Subsystem
Defining a Spooler PRINT PARM Attribute
Beginning with the G06.10 and D48.02 RVUs, when using FASTPTCP, you can also
optionally specify print process configuration parameters for FASTPTCP by adding a
PARM attribute to the Spoolcom PRINT command. The supported bit values for
FASTPTCP are described in
PRINT PARM Attribute
on page 3-10.
Assigning a Spooler Device Name
The Spooler device name is the name which is used by the Spooler to represent the
network printer.
Generally, Spooler device names for FASTP network printers consist of an optional
node name, a device name, and an optional device-name qualifier as follows:
where
\
node
specifies the name of the node to which the LAN or WAN is attached. A node
name consists of a backslash (
\
) followed by one to seven alphanumeric
characters; the first alphanumeric character must be a letter.
If the node name is omitted, the default node name is the node on which the
FASTP network print process is running.
A node name and a device name are separated by a period (.).
$device-name
specifies the Spooler device name assigned to the FASTP network printer. A
device name consists of a dollar sign ($) followed by one to seven alphanumeric
characters; the first alphanumeric character must be a letter.
Device names must be unique on a node.
A device name and a device-name qualifier are separated by a period (.).
#qualifier
specifies a device-name qualifier. The qualifier consists of a pound sign (
#
)
followed by one to seven alphanumeric characters; the first alphanumeric
character must be a letter.
The device-name format can vary based on which FASTP network print process you
are configuring. The device name must always be specified in a Spoolcom DEV
command.
