NetWare LAN Considerations
The following LAN-related information should be considered when configuring the
FASTPNOV print process.
User ID and Password
The user ID (USERID attribute) and password (PASSWORD attribute) defined in a
DEVICE entry in the FASTCNFG configuration file for a NetWare print queue must also
be defined for the corresponding NetWare print server.
Job Identification
A NetWare print job has a job description associated with it. This description can be
used to identify different print jobs sent to the same print queue by the same user. The
job description consists of 50 characters divided among the following fields and offsets.
SYSTEM field (8 characters)
is the system name for the HP NonStop system where the FASTPNOV print
process is located. The first character of a system name is a backslash (\). If the
system name consists of fewer than 8 characters, the remaining characters in the
field are blank. An example of a system name is:
\FINSYS
JOB# field (9 characters)
is the Spooler job number or batch job number assigned to the job by the
FASTPNOV print process. The job number field consists of the following
components:
A blank character
A “J” to denote an individual job or a “B” to denote a batch job
A 6-digit, blank-filled job number
A blank character
An example of a job number is:
J 357
OWNER field (17 characters)
is the owner name assigned to the job by the FASTPNOV print process. The owner
name is derived from the logon ID of the person submitting the job. If the owner
name consists of fewer than 17 characters, the remaining characters in the field
are blank. An example of an owner name is:
FINANCE.BOB
