Maintenance Introduction
The THJ80 ThermoJet is designed and manufactured to give many years of trouble free service.
The operator can have a significant positive impact on the TJH80 lifespan by following the
operating procedures outlined earlier and by adhering to a routine maintenance program based
on the guidelines in this section.
The goal of routine maintenance is to reduce the frequency of factory service. FTS draws a
distinct line between the terms "maintenance" and "service".
Maintenance Characteristics
Service Characteristics
• routine tasks
• complicated tasks
• planned
• usually short notice, unexpected
• follows checklist
• actions dictated by problem
• no special tools required
• may require special purpose tools
• performed by operator
• performed by trained specialist
• preventative in nature
• reactive in nature
Who should perform the maintenance?
Although we understand that each of our customer's facilities are structured differently, and
certain job functions may have to be performed by specific people, it is our philosophy that the
more the operators know about a piece of equipment, the more likely they are to take care of that
equipment. Therefore, it is recommended that the operator responsible for running the unit be
responsible for the preventative maintenance. A qualified instrumentation/calibration technician
should perform system calibration.
When should maintenance be performed?
FTS recommends that maintenance be scheduled at specific time intervals. The ideal time
interval depends on the unit’s environment and time in service. The following schedule can be
used as a guideline when planning system maintenance.
